The application of tuned mass dampers to the Tire Pavement Test Apparatus to minimize the impact of rig resonance

The 'Tire Pavement Test Apparatus (TPTA)' at Purdue University is a device that was originally developed to study tire's air-borne noise radiation in the frequency range 300 Hz 2 kHz. However, recent years, has mainly been used quantify contribution structure-borne by measuring force and acceleration hub. Hence, of interest shifted frequencies below Hz. By comparing measurements FE simulations, undesired vibration observed around 160 measurement data. It speculated rig supporting tire exhibits resonant hinders range. To identify cause mechanism resonance, Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA) performed.
